Welcome! I'm Wendy Gao, a Product Designer based in Toronto. My background is rooted in Computer Science, but at some point while learning to build software, I discovered that my true passion lay in shaping the experience. I realized early on that without deeply understanding the who, the struggles, and the why, even the best execution could feel hollow. Over time, I came to see that building something well means very little if it’s not solving the right problems for people, and that realization is what pulled me into design.

As a designer, I’m a problem solver at heart, and my technical foundation continues to shape my design philosophy today. It allows me to ground my creativity in feasibility and build strong, collaborative bridges with engineering teams. I believe the most impactful products sit at the intersection of deep empathy, data-informed thinking, and tight cross-functional collaboration, and that's the standard I hold myself to when helping teams make decisions with both confidence and clarity.
